RE: Steem is not just an ad-hoc corporate system, but also a prototype for a government

in #government8 years ago

When I was studying journalism, I wrote a paper on how the Greek cities dealt with excess population, expansion and colonization. They formed ship crews, and the positions on the ship were a blueprint for government of the future colony polity.
Only problem is that such model requires a certain high degree of centralization. Which might be fine during a colonization phase, but some adjustments need to be made to the model to allow for decentralization.

That is the great advantage of building it out of a blockchain network. It is by its nature fluid, and with transparency the problems of centralisation are also partially mitigated, because you can see inside the star networks unlike how it is now, where these hierarchies are very opaque.

Once I get back to Moscow, I plan to get the copy of my paper, translate it to English and post here, perhaps with some editing, to make it more interesting. I think it offers a good historical perspective, some food for thought and a good viable model, that can be modified as well as built upon.

Originally I was interested in this theme because the Greeks had a lot of really cool ideas about running things, and their set up allowed them to colonize big swathes of land quickly. Perhaps it isn't relevant right now, but once the humanity goes into space, that would be something to think about.

Yes, we are not in a frontier situation anymore, but once the tech is there, we will be, and you probably know that getting that tech is a major interest of mine.
