Government Radiation Experiments and more

in #government7 years ago

Ok, so I normally roll my eyes when I hear about chem trails or other secret government experiments but I have to say that a strange turn on the interwebs today let me down a rabbit hole that is beyond disturbing. To be clear the experiments I am referring to took place many years ago.

I know the Government has participated in some pretty shady and unethical studies but I had no idea there were so many and exactly how bad many of them were.

Just a few highlights of some that I hope to explore in more detail in the near future were:

"During 1946 and 1947, at the University of Rochester, six patients with good kidney function were injected with uranium salts to determine the concentration which would produce renal injury"

"From May 1963 to November 1966, radioactive iodine was released intentionally on seven separate occasions. On three occasions, human subjects were exposed. The experiments were funded by the Atomic Energy Commission and were conducted at the National Reactor Testing Station in Idaho."

"In 1994 Senate hearings, it came out that scientists from MIT had been giving radioactive oatmeal to the boys - men now - in a nutrition study for Quaker Oats. All they knew is that they'd been asked to join a science club."

Most of the examples here were part of a government report that you can read here should you desire. http://contentdm.library.unr.edu/cdm/singleitem/collection/conghear/id/102#metajump

The oatmeal story comes from CBS News https://www.cbsnews.com/news/americas-deep-dark-secret/

What is scary is that even in the 1990s when this report was created it includes the following language which pretty much says that there are circumstances where such tests could be ok even today.

Two overriding principles for human experimentation must be followed: The first is that the risks of the experimental treatment must be reasonable in relation to anticipated benefits. The second is that subjects must be fully informed, and capable of understanding the benefits and risks of the treatment. Current federal regulations embody these principles, with exceptions that are clearly spelled out in cases where knowledge from the treatment might benefit society as a whole.
