Orwell's timing was off a bit but he was dead on-target.

He could never have envisioned invisible satellite or bird-like drone surveillance that can count the corn flakes in your bowl of cereal. And Winston Smith could never have imagined having a tool like PhotoShop to make his job so much easier.
