There is only one way to parent. Lead by example. If your chikdren see that YOU behave, are polite and kind to others, that is what they learn. Get to know your kid's personalities, and call them out on their shit. For some punishments may be necessary, but not for others. Children are the most annoying, fascinating things you'll ever encounter. Treat them like the treasures they are, and provide a little guidance and you will have embarked on the most rewarding journey of all time.
