More on Delta Force
If you read my last blog, you should know that the group named Delta Force is a detachment of the First Special Forces Group. In this blog im going to write more about Delta Force and who they work with. I will also talk about some operations that they have done in the past.
Delta Force is a highly elite group that performs specialist missions. What I mean by specialist missions, is an operation that is to hard for other forces to execute or has too many moving parts for others to handle. When I say highly elite, I am referring to the missions that they’ve done by themselves, and other forces. Their favorite force to work with is the Special Air Service(Britain) or sas for short. They also work well with the strike team of SEAL Team Six. Delta was used in several different countries and operations in the Middle East. Delta has some of the best snipers in the world and has the second best strike team in the world as well. SAS holds number one.
Delta Force operators are only combat operational for around six years. The life expectancy of the average operator is around 50 percent. This means that you have a 50 percent chance of dying every time you go out. Several Delta operators say this is not true, mostly because an entire team can die, while two teams can live. The main reason that operators are only combat effective for around six years once they join Delta is because at then end of six years, they are mentally and physically drained as well. After six years, you are still considered Delta Force but you will have a high enough rank that you will be commanding an Army instead of being at the front lines, or raiding a building. I have watched some ex- Delta operators be interviewed and most say that they have broken several bones when in Delta Force and most say that at the end of the six years, they burn their combat uniforms and berets. Then are given new ones. The operators say that they do this because they want to cleanse themselves of all the bad that they’ve done and want to start with a clean slate.
Some operations that Delta have done are operation Gothic Serpent, Eagle Claw, Heavy Shadow, Juniper Shield, and Black Swan. Operation Gothic Serpent was in Somalia and was to kill Muhammad Farid Aidid, two Black Hawks were shot down. Operation Eagle Claw was to save 52 hostages in an American embassy and failed miserably. Operation Heavy Shadows outcome and raid is unknown to the public. Operation Juniper Shield was an effort to help countries in central Africa to stop drug trafficking. Operation Black Swan was the raid of a building in Mexico, to capture or kill ‘El Chapo’. Delta also helped in Operation Enduring Freedom.

a 50% survival rate multiplied by everytime you go out makes for a much statistically deadlier job than realized
very much so.... scary
Tip of the spear must always be sharp!
6 years total operational time and only a 50% survival rate probably makes this one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Glad there are some who are willing to give all.
