Anti-Capitalist Deal With Amazon

in #government7 years ago

So the massive tax breaks being offered to amazon by the state and local governments are taking anti-capitalism to another level. Mark Muro, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution said such offers “speak(s) to the urgency in a lot of places to position themselves in the advanced economy. This looks like a fast way to accelerate one’s entry into the industries of the future.” This is just giving the democrats ammunition, now when they say the rich are getting richer they are right. What people do not understand is that in capitalism the consumer is king, he decides what should be produced, by whom and how, of what quality and in what quantity.” This is what got me to really embrace capitalism, I thought what I seen around me was the cause of capitalism. Now I know that we dont have capitalism, as capitalism is "private ownership" of the means of production. Already if somebody else can tell you what to do with your property, I would say it is not really yours you just live there. If you dont submit yourself to the commands of the consumers, well you wont make it to far in society. If you have nothing to offer your fellow man, then you better hope you know how to keep yourself alive. The entrepreneurs and corporations competing today to satisfy the needs of consumers must combine inputs, such as labor, raw materials, machinery, etc., to produce a good or service at a price the consumer is willing to pay. If they can turn a profit doing this, they succeed; otherwise they fail. As Mises would point out, consumers are the “real bosses” who can “make rich men poor and poor men rich.” This is what people dont get, I mean if you complain about a business or a product then what do you do? or at least you should stop buying from that person as they did not satisfy your needs. Giving Amazon a massive tax break and subsidies interferes in the consumers decision, as Amazon has a better political advantage over his competitors. This will mean even if Amazon was less favored and loosing money, they are still better off then another company. Under this scenario of targeted “economic incentives,” a company can gain an advantage over its competitors courtesy of political privilege. Such advantages will help determine which businesses succeed or fail in the marketplace; and therefore influence who owns a greater share of the state’s means of production and how they are used. One reason for politics being so involved in business really started with the Hoover administration, where Hoover would like to suggest he was "creating" jobs. The problem with this as we all know government can only create or give what it takes, if the government is going to create a job they are going to have to take a job from a sector that is supplying the consumers with what they need. Instead government taxes the consumers and other productive members of society, this money then goes to fund somebody doing a job in the military, roads, bridges, lumbering, and other useless things. Of course this is the new day and age, so government creates jobs by giving the biggest corporation not multiple this is just for Amazon. So now Amazon will grow at the expense of everyone else, I dont think this was a power granted to the federal government.... But, its at the state level... Consumers, on the other hand, are left with fewer choices and less sway over determining who controls the economy’s scarce resources and to what purposes they are applied.

In other words, power is shifted away from the masses and back to the elite class of government officials and the politically connected. Well thanks for reading guys! Please upvote, follow, and resteem

Right, it was called Crony Capitalism and today all Western powers suffer from this disease, especially the United States of America.

I have been starting to use Anti-Capitalist as it really makes the case... People will say Anti-Capitalist? I will say because when big business takes from everyone else... Property rights are violated, if capitalism is all about private ownership, then whoever violates it would be considered an Anti-Capitalist. Thank you for reading, upvote, and comment!
