I finally gave in yesterday and bought a tv licence here in Ireland. 1 and a half years of letters getting more threatening. I don't even watch TV and get all my media online but I dont want to be sent to prison which is what they do here.
There has been talk of getting rid of the licence and replacing it with a broadcast tax so it won't even matter if you don't have a tv. You will still have to pay for the shitty programs they produce.
Good luck to you fighting the system. For me at least I can have a bit of peace from their incessant bullshit.
I would sooner go to jail. Perhaps the btalk of a broadcast tax was just propaganda to get people to say "fuck it, I might as well pay then?"
I have a wife and child that I fear for more than myself. I don't want some fecker arriving at the door when I'm not in and them having to deal with it. It is a tax by another name, used to pay the over inflated wages of C class celebs. On top of that the Irish broadcaster also runs ads. Wishing you luck.
They really are taking the piss now. Even the BBC would not have the gall to air adverts after taking everyone's money by force to fund their broadcasts.
