CAC DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE 📚
(THE LIVING WATER)

DATE: Saturday, 17th February, 2018.

TOPIC: FORGIVENESS IS OF GOD (II)

📖 READ: Isaiah 1:18-20

MEMORISE:
"Come now, and let us reason together, " Says the Lord, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. (Isaiah 1:18)

EXPOSITION:
Yesterday, we addressed the offended, that forgiveness and vengeance belong to God alone (Rom. 12:19). The Bible says that we should give food/drink to our perceived enemies when they need such, instead of repaying evil for evil (Prov. 25:21; Rom. 12:20). We should understand that repaying evil for evil is a taboo, Christianity-wise (Matt. 5:43-48; Rom. 12:17,21).

Today, the offender is the focus. If you hurt somebody with your speech, action and/or deed, do not be arrogant. The moment you realise that you have offended anybody, quickly find a way of making amendments before the person, and then seek the face of God for forgiveness, because He always has the final say (Psa. 51:1-4). Never allow the burden of your sins to weigh you down. According to our passage for today's dose of the Living Water, no matter how terrible your sins might be, the power of God is still sufficient to erase them all and make you whole.

As the father of the prodigal son did to his lost son, in Jesus' parable (Lk. 15:22-24), God is ever ready to welcome back home all His erring children, and make them whole (Acts 17:30). What God hates is for someone to hide his sins (Prov. 28:13). All our sins are open secret before Him. God wants us to confess all our sins, those committed against Him and others, before Him (1 Jn. 1:8-9).

In case you have offended anyone and such one isn't giving room for reconciliation and peace to reign between you and him/her, after you have taken the right steps towards brokering peace with him, there is no cause for alarm, having first settled things with God. Try your best for the reconciliation, trust in God for forgiveness and eventual conviction of the offended, as to the genuineness of your moves, and leave the rest to Him, in faith as much as it depends on you, be at peace with all men (Rom. 12:18). He is the One who justifies, and condemns, as the case may be (Rom. 8:33-34).

PRAYER POINTS:

  1. Lord, I confess my sin of pride I commit to you and to those people I knowingly offended.

  2. Give me the grace, O Lord, to confess and forsake all my known sins to you and other people.

  3. Lord, let your mercy and grace begin to speak for all your children who have realised their past mistakes.
