John 6:26-27
Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

I know that we have spent considerable time on Zacchaeus and his approach to Jesus. There is one last noteworthy thing about this man. It is his desire. What did Zacchaeus want? It may surprise you to know that, before he met Jesus, nothing! The man wanted for nothing. He was a tax collector and a wealthy one. He was not sick either. The Bible also does not hint that any member of his family, both immediate and extended, needed healing. On the surface, ‘all is well in the life of Zacchaeus’.
Often, going through scripture, you find that almost everyone that came to the Master had some need. They needed to know the truth or were sick or in need of physical healing or had questions on the Master's authority. These folks needed one thing or the other from Jesus - not Zacchaeus though. He had a desire for one thing, 'he only sought to see Jesus. To see who he was'. Zacchaeus was curious.
I can't say this enough, we have stared at the Lords hands enough. It is time to take our gaze away from the many beautiful benefits of Religion promises, like Zacchaeus, seek to know the man Jesus and the reason that the father sent him for. Do you know what Zacchaeus gained by his desire for the Lord?
Jesus ultimately said in Luke 19:9 "Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house". Salvation! You look too much at God's hands you gain physical, temporal benefits. But seek the Lord and you will open up a well that offers answers to other temporal and the spiritual needs. The Salvation of our souls - which is priceless.
Seek eternal things because this world and everything in it will pass away.
