HONOUR YOUR PARENTS

Often times I do wonder what the secret behind longevity of life is, and my answer was not far fetched but picked from what the bible says to be the only commandment that has a promise backing it up...
Exodus 20:12
“Respect your father and your mother, so that you may live a long time in the land that I am giving you..... That is simple but bitter truth. If we want to live long, prosper and above all fulfill destiny we are mandated to honour our father and mother because of fact many destiny and life have been cut short due to finding it difficult to abide by this simple truth

Deuteronomy 5:16
Respect your father and your mother, as I, the Lord your God, command you, so that all may go well with you and so that you may live a long time in the land that I am giving you...... Not taking to this command brings about life full of frustration, rejection and stagnancy in all areas of life.
It is also in this same bible I was made to see the lives of children who decided to disregard their parent, for a case study I picked the life of Reuben and Canaan Noah's grandson

Genesis 9:20-26
20 Noah, who was a farmer, was the first man to plant a vineyard. 21 After he drank some of wine, he became drunk, took off his clothes, and lay naked in his tent. 22 When Ham, the father of Canaan, saw that his father was naked, he went out and told his two brothers. 23 Then Shem and Japheth took a robe and held it behind them on their shoulders. They walked backward into the tent and covered their father, keeping their faces turned away so as not to see him naked.24 When Noah sobered up and learned what his youngest son had done to him, 25 he said,

“A curse on Canaan!
He will be a slave to his brothers.
26 Give praise to the Lord, the God of Shem!
Canaan will be the slave of Shem.
27 May God cause Japheth to increase!
May his descendants live with the people of Shem!
Canaan will be the slave of Japheth.”

Ham beheld his father's nakedness while he was in stuporous phase due to drunkenness, he never knew even though his father was drunk spiritually he was very much alert

So he thought It was fun to crack it has jokes with his other brother
The other brother shunned him and did what is right by covering up there father's nakedness.
Lo and behold Noah came back to his senses and blessed his children according to their level of respect and honor given unto him. And Canaan son of Ham received curse to be servant of servants due to his father's disrespectful act towards his father

Like wise Reuben who went in on his father's concubine and had inter course with her

GENESIS 49:3-4
Reuben, my first-born, you are my strength
And the first child of my manhood,
The proudest and strongest of all my sons.
4 You are like a raging flood,
But you will not be the most important,
For you slept with my concubine
And dishonored your father's bed.

We have many more examples in the Bible of what been respectful and disrespectful can bring to one

You might be wondering.... But I am an orphan, you can and must show this to all grown up or elders around us
And even those who still have parents are expected to do this too

√ Learn how to appreciate your parents
√ Accept their authority.
√ Treat them with respect
√ provide for them
√ Take responsibility for them as if you are the only child...

N.B; Every time you kneel or prostrate for your parents you rise up with a new grace!
