Google Calendar: watch out for "false" appointments. Here is the new frontier of online scams

The online scams in the journals are progressively on the agenda. Many consumers fall into the clutches of criminals that catch them with tricks that are not always immediately recognizable, sometimes too readily. Phishing, but also spam and other kinds of circumstances can often jeopardize a person's delicate information, which might then be in trouble. The last, but in chronological order, concerns Google Calendar, which was fired by a scam resulting from the sending of certain appointment mails.

In this case, users actually receive apparently harmless emails, but they automatically add appointments to the user's calendar using the default settings of the system.

At this stage, the customer will receive the classic notification for the current event, unconscious of everything, in which there may be different connections prepared to be used by the customer that could see themselves extortioning sensitive information in the account. To emphasize the fact that Gmail views the initial email as spam, but in reality the scheme does not allow blocking the sending of the appointment to the calendar, thus creating a particular incident that could trigger user issues.

Google has not yet communicated anything about the episode at the moment and, above all, has not released updates that will surely come in the days ahead. Therefore, in this case, canceling the automatic addition of occurrences from the emails is the only way to protect against this scenario.

To do this, you will need to go to the Google Calendar settings in its internet variant in the "Event folder" and alter the "Automatically add invitations" entry here if you select "NO" to prevent adding fake spam incidents exactly until Google decides to update the application.
