A Hundred days of Google IT Support Certification

Day 01

When I found out that Google released the Google IT Support Professional Certification I thought it would be interesting and took a look at it. When I went to the Coursera website there was an offer for a scholarship so I applied. A couple days later I got accepted so I'm taking the course!

The Google IT Support Professional Certification is a 6 part course that is geared towards anyone looking to get into IT Support, looking to build upon their current skill set in IT support or anyone who wants a refresher on the foundations of IT.

The Certification course is made up of 6 parts:

1. Technical Support Fundamentals
2. The Bits and Bytes of Computer Networking
3. Operating Systems and You
4. System Administration and IT Infrastructure Services
5. IT Automation
6. IT Security

Based on the course list I think the first 3 classes don't require any experience but the last 3 may require you to have at least a some experience working in tech. I'll revisit that thought as I get to the last half of the course.

Each class is broken up into 6 parts and has a combination of video training, written exercises, readings, practice exercises, hands on labs and quizzes and 6 exams.

Google has provided a great mix of exercises vs video so you don't get bored. They even ask questions during the video to make sure you are really paying attention. The videos can vary anywhere from 2 - 20 minutes to keep help keep you focused.
