Good news! Our collective intelligence may be getting smarter.
Many famous thinkers like Jung have posited that there is a collection of human experience being constantly gathered and stored as a collective subconscious which new generations of humans continually seem to be able to draw from, and which there is some empirical evidence for.

As computing power increases, empirical data is becoming more available to those who know how to collect and interpret this data. Much of this new data indicates that humans seem to have a programmed bias towards more than just merely surviving, we also have a bias towards building culture.
If the collective subconscious is real, then it is possible that the massive civil and political unrest countries are now experiencing, has something to do with an evolving human conscious.
If new waves of humans are drawing on an increasing pool of subconscious human knowledge, as well as gaining realtime access to all conscious knowledge via the internet, then we should expect to see a massive global phenomenon of rapid change over the next 2 generations.
Is it possible that humans could cross some invisible threshold of collective consciousness and find themselves naturally in a world without war?
Experts all thought we would have another world war by now but we have not, what we see instead is a growing global movement against corrupt governments.
Human consciousness is not well understood and evolving in ways we do not fully understand, and so many see the current social chaos and corruption as a reason for despair.
If you are one of these people, we would like to invite you to look at things from a new perspective, one where we see the beginning of resolution to old problems and a planet where WW3 never happens.

We too hope that one day the collective consciousnes will rise to a degree where everyone will see each other as brother and sister, and find no more reason to kill each other because of differences small or big.
Chance on a global scale happens very slowly though, but like you said, we could have had WW3 by now, but something is preventing it. Maybe it´s the collective consciousnes. Maybe thousands of years of war are enough. Maybe it´s time to rise.
