The Good and the Bad

I've always tried to stay consistent with who I am regardless to what happens. I feel that it isn't what happens to you that determines what you do, but what personal creed that you follow that should guide you through your decisions. When you have a moral compass that you follow through thick and thin, there isn't anything to ever worry about or decide, you just follow what you know and understand. It doesn't matter how bad a day gets or how great it becomes...who you are and how you conduct yourself is based around solid principles rather than emotions.

Literally only eight days ago, I announced to the Steemit world and the outside world as well that my wife and I were going to have twins coming in October. We did a pregnancy reveal to her parents and they were ecstatic. We had waited for sometime before we wanted to have children because neither one of us wanted to rush into things. We considered ourselves as responsible adults who would decide when they would have children rather than like those other people who had their kids by "accident." Everything went as planned, we didn't conceive children until we wanted and we didn't rush into anything without proper consideration.

After the initial period where the cat was out of the bag, my wife and I started looking into the future. We started looking around our house and trying to spot all of the areas that maybe a future baby could noodle through and though about all of the logistics of where the crib would be and where we sleep once our kids took over our room. We may have planned everything else out, but we never expected that we would ever have twins, so this put a time crunch on how we would have to do when they came into this Earth because our house would not be big enough for a family of four. It was alright though, because things seem to work themselves out one way or another. Things always do. We were ready for anything.

Today, the news came back. My wife returned from the doctor after having her concerns about the way she felt and found out where everything stood. Only eight days after the discovery of having two babies, I now knew that I was no longer was I going to be a father. Today our last baby died shortly after it's sibling a few days prior. We went from having more than we could imagine to nothing in what seemed like a blink of an eye.

Life is very interesting in the way it works. You never can predict what will happen or how you will act in any situation, but one thing you can do is have a set of principals that you follow regardless to what happens. The world will take everything away from you spite what you do, but that which you do, doesn't need to make you the victim of your reality. It's not always easy to do the things that you don't want to do, and even more so, when something unfortunate happens, but you can't stop. The moment you stop to worry about how the world is broken or how you somehow are damned, is the moment where the real issues will come.

You must take the good and the bad in stride. feel free to celebrate during a victory and feel free to cry during a tragedy, but whatever you do, never stop moving. What you do now is what matters the most.
