They hurriedly convened a secret meeting and agreed to contribute their pocket money for fifteen days. There were over fifty children in the colony. Some of them didn't get any pocket money while some got a rupee per day. There were a few who get two or three rupees a day.
Their determination bore fruit. They were able to collect one thousand two hundred rupees in twenty day's time. Their excitement knew no bounds. Four of the children went to market and bought pedestal fan. As they entered the slum carrying a large cartoon on their shoulders people looked at them curiously.
