GOLF "HACKS"(...the good kind)

in #golf7 years ago (edited)

HELLO EVERYONE! SteemyJ here, your advisory Golf Professional and I wanted to share some of my go-to tips and "hacks" (and, NO, NOT to BE a hack! HAHA these are hacks, you know, things that make life easier) on how to LOWER YOUR SCORE(!!!) QUICK and get that promotion you've been vying for!

OOOOOK... most new or even experienced golfers have the misconception that the longer their drive, the better golfer they are or the lower their score will be. And, in my opinion, this could NOT BE MORE WRONG (unless you get a hole in one!) because your SHORT GAME will either make or break your score. Most golfers throw away time working on their long game, i.e., "Hey Ma, look how far my ball went!" when this is a less significant attribute to lower your score. But don't be misconstrued--it DEF IS important to get your ball off the tee successfully, but your chipping and putting can get you out of a, perhaps, a NOT successful drive. So, read on for some "Easy Golf Hacks(<the good kind)".

Short game, also known as "chipping" and "putting", is one of the most overlooked part of golf even you are a professional. Did you know that nearly half of all golfer's (Joe's and Pro's, alike) strokes are wasted on the putting green? Even the most experienced golfers have at least two putts per green--and the funny (or sad) part is that this is not even that bad! If more golfers would spend the time on their putting as they do for their driving, everyone would improve their score by at least 3-6 strokes! If that's not a "hack", I don't know what is! Lowering your score by changing up your order of warming up and practicing.

But FINALLY, the Holy Grail of the simplest golf "hacks"(tip): POSTURE. Just start looking at all of the touring professionals. They all have similar set ups at address position (layman's term: their consistent set-up when getting comfy before making that tiny sphere fly along the green.) I could go on about posture, but there is so much to perfect posture. So, I'll make this short and sweet this time... three of the most important aspects of posture:
  1. ABSENCE of any curvature of the spine when settling into position
  2. FEET. Yes, feet. HOWEVER, this depends on what club you will be using and how far your ball's landing point sits
  3. A STEADY HEAD will take you a long way, and this could be something that is preventing you from achieving better results
(ideally, once you are complete settling into your position, you should be as steady as possible but your head is one of the
most important. Don't eagerly look to see where or how far your ball went as soon as your club makes impact)

This was a pretty vague and short post, but that's why it's titled "Hacks"... they are just short and easy tips to hopefully improve your game. The game of golf is a game that needs to be constantly practiced, tweaked, adjusted, advised, etc. etc. on and on. So, this is just the beginning. Come back for more tips, techniques, my personal ways of a good game, and so much more and in so much more in detail and in depth! Think of it like parenting: there's no actual, one-size-fits-all guide to golf, so shoot me your problems, questions, opinions, insights, advice(!), whatever--all are welcome and maybe we can all improve one swing at a time.

Thanks for reading, hope you get those Aces Eagles Birdies Pars galore!
