How to Reduce Driver Backspin: Increase Driver Distance

in #golf2 years ago

For the ball to move forward, it must have a backspin.

Even putting has backspin.

To be able to control distance well, you need to understand backspin.

Putting, wedge shot, iron shot, driver shot

To be able to control distance well, you need to be able to get a decent amount of backspin.

When you putt, hitting the ball initially causes backspin.

When the backspin is released, the ball slides and only then rolls up and rolls.

Even when putting, you need backspin control to control subtle distances.

Reducing backspin is a good idea for driver shots that require a few more meters of distance.

It's very important.

To better understand how backspin works

You need to understand three concepts: attack angle, dynamic loft, and spin loft.

As you can see in this picture

Attack Angle is the angle at which the club head approaches the ball.

Dynamic Loft is the face loft at the moment of striking the ball, that is, the angle at which the ball departs.

The last Spin Loft indicates the difference between the attack angle and the dynamic loft.

Larger angles take a lot of closlock backspin.

If you hit the driver like in this photo, there is a lot of backspin, so the run is greatly reduced, so there is no distance.

Hit while going down (attack angle is minus 10 degrees)

The headface is towards the sky (dynamic loft 20 degrees).

Then the spin loft is a whopping 30 degrees.

To reduce backspin by reducing spinloft, you need to hit a screwdriver as shown in the picture below.

At the moment of impact, both hands advanced ahead of the head.
To do so, you need to shift enough weight to your left foot on the downswing. This reduces headface loft (dynamic loft) as the head follows the hand.
The important thing here is not to hit the ball while going down like an iron.
It feels good to raise the hand slightly rather than hitting it with your hand ahead or sweeping it horizontally.
In other words, the spin loft can be reduced by hitting horizontally (zero) or upward (plus angle) rather than a negative hit angle.
Just to help you understand, you'll have to do the exact opposite when you're making a strong backspin.

If you hit it steeply, your head face should be facing the sky so you can use a large spin loft to get a strong backspin.

Backspin doesn't work well in water or grass because of its low friction.

Also, the wedges must have sharp grooves to catch them.
Water on the driver's headface will naturally reduce backsping.
Applying saliva as an expedient method, or attaching a lip stick or transparent vinyl to the head face is also a struggle to reduce friction.
