“South Africa will be the big emerging market story of 2018” – Goldman Sachs

How have Goldman Sachs decided on a successful South Africa?

With interest rates reportedly lowering, it seems like Cyril Ramaphosa is going to make good on his promise of opening Mzansi up to investors. But South Africa, and certainly the new ANC regime, could benefit from Jacob Zuma’s ineptitude.

As discussed by Tim Cohen (Editor of Business Day), he says this country has a vast ‘catch up potential’. Essentially, the economy will grow because it has such a low bar set from the previous annum.

Dare to dream, folks. An endorsement from Goldman Sachs is something to take very seriously. With Cyril Ramaphosa heading off to the World Economic Forum this week, an impressive performance there could resuscitate the future of our economy.

<>h6Goldman Sachs are the world’s third-biggest investment bank. So they know a thing or two when it comes to picking out a country with massive ’emerging market’ potential. And right now, they’re championing South Africa.

Your eyes do not deceive you. As reported by Fin24, Mzansi is now showing the signs of bouncing back from a bruising 2017, which saw everything from recessions to junk statuses take a firm grip on the country’s economy.

Why is South Africa the “big emerging market story”?

There’s no doubt that the ANC Elective Conference in December 2017 has had a huge influence on the Goldman Sachs decision. Cyril Ramaphosa has always been seen as the ‘business-friendly’ candidate for leadership. And in his first month as ANC President, he is getting things done.

The state capture inquiry and attempts to prosecute the Guptas have both been stepped up significantly. Ramaphosa has already shown plenty of hubris in declaring his exact intentions during his presidency. In fact, just the mere suggestion of Zuma leaving his role as Head of State soon has strengthened the rand.

Our currency’s durability has been something to marvel at. Trading at almost R15 to the dollar in October, Goldman Sachs envision that we will enter 2019 at R11.50 to the dollar instead.

kate steinle? cannabis? jerusalem as capital? nooo those goats are going co2 and SA with white expropriation and genocide... what a surprise.

As a white local I can tell you its not a genocide. The farming white community does get targeted and are rightfully using the word genocide to get international attention but most of the population is city dwellers our population figures are dropping due to emigration while the country takes in allot of African immigrants. anyway there is like 1 white person for every 53 black people and the murder rate is like 1 to 60 so mathematically its normally balanced its just more noticeable because of white people being a minority still when you look at it the math is still worying

LoL and in international comparison the capita murder rate of SA?

It has become a shit hole... that's it. some refuse to see it... I just find sad that no white country offer to take white south african before they all get expropriated and slaughtered.

rainbow nation... or community toilets... everyone shit, no one cleans.

actually up to the 4th generation English are allowed back not sure of the rest but its fine here it seems bad to outsiders but we live good lives we got access to land and labor and with a lot of natural resources and being the 25 most populous country makes us self reliant if we want to be

anyway believe... from my perspective breeding rate make it unsustainable.

dream on... good luck. I wish to be wrong, and would gladly be, because it would mean that SA is great.

You know this is the type of being wrong I like... because if I am wrong the situation is good.

But I don't believe I am...

not denial everyone i knew in school is still alive no genocide like I said
also I often walk to the shops and back without ever encountering problems
either your paranoid or don't know what a true genocide is
the only time the boers had anything close to it was under brittish occupation when 20 000 woman and children where starved to death and often eating food laced with rusty fish hooks disease was the main killer but the English forced the conditions on our woman and children. losing 20 000 to 25 000 woman and children in colonial times is really significant. its a part of history the world seems to fidget

dark honey moon... I know dude.

electric fence and barb wire? easy to shot through.

8% of the population? I know, you are doomed.

enjoy...

it's Darwinian selection anyway...

and you know from hk to singap to shenzen to shanghai and xian... she can go where ever she wants... the one who hurt her could be han or zulu, he will die. this is life. the only question is how to match his organs...

Well if they said it, it has got to be true. What do they say about BTC vs Bitcoin Cash? And will STEEM rise or stay the same?

I don't think white south africans should be allowed to own cryptos... #irony

I personally think that Cyril Ramaphosa is the key to a flourishing South Africa. He's got a mind for business and.......the current ANC cadres are scared of him.

All the best for 2018 here in South Africa. We have our problems, but who doesn't?

Cheers

dry and die white genocidist. did you know it is dehydratation that kills on crucification, most of the time... then the birds come to eat... or earlier.

the ANC is still the ANC and now they will rally saying its their 1st venda candidate boosting support in limpopo the problem is he is a opportunist. Cyril Ramaphosa is just a new face to the same old ANC.

amaphosa has stood in Jacob Zuma’s shadow for years, silent in the face of his crimes and the crimes of fellow ANC comrades. His election means that the corrupt system that is oppressing South Africans will continue. Ramaphosa has relied on David Mabuza to secure a marginal victory, in turn electing him as Deputy President. As Premier of Mpumalanga, Mabuza has presided over a collapsing province, characterised by maladministration and corruption, while keeping people in poverty.

The truth is, no matter who leads the ANC, cabinet and policy direction is determined by the party, and it has been these ANC policies that have sought to withdraw South Africa from the International Criminal Court (ICC), kept poor people locked out of the economy, captured the mining sector, chased after an unaffordable Nuclear Deal, and increased unemployment with now over 9 million South Africans without a job.

Even before being elected ANC Deputy President in 2012, Ramaphosa’s political career has been one of silence towards corruption in government. He has shown no willingness or ability to fight corruption and State Capture. While serving as Jacob Zuma’s Deputy President since 2014, he sat silently on the ANC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) while the ANC looted the state and stole money from the people of South Africa.

the day I saw mandela palace or maybe it was zuma... i knew... it's like erdogan... what ever the excuses, hypergamist powns.

blah blah blah... breeding rate.

He the embodiment of corruption. The big guru. The main konein. In a word, he is the Goldman Sachs darling. Of course they're happy with him. He's smarter than Zuma so helpful.
