Somber Grey Clouds Surrounding a Golden Glow ... Chiang Mai, Thailand – GoldenHour Photography

Taken early in the evening, well before sunset, this photo of a mini skyline turned into a splendid GoldenHour shot. 

Simple evening cityscape 

While walking along this side street in the late afternoon, I came across these buildings. Their outlines were softly silhouetted against the early evening sky.

I pulled out my camera and adjusted the exposure a bit, in order to deal with the light streaming through the clouds.  

Surreal solar oven 

What had been soft yellow light turned out to be that golden patch of fiery orange surrounded by grey and black. The stark, well-defined silhouettes, the somber grey clouds, and the glowing patch of fire in the sky made the scene somewhat surreal. 

It was as if I were passing under the open door of a massive celestial oven, surrounded by billowing black smoke and with flames flaring inside the oven itself.   Location – Chiang Mai, on Google Maps
