Charms of gold is legendary but it’s not environmentally friendly, invest in cryptos!!
The real gold in the traditional sense is that precious metal mined from the ground and made fashionable as jewels for ladies to wear. Ofcourse, men were greedy for gold too, not maybe for fashion but for it’s monetary value ,making it precious. We did, I think, have kings with golden crowns and swords, they even may have worn gold chains, bracelets and ornaments and he gifted gold coins too, as rewards for services done by people who impressed him with their talent - through their poetry, dance, music and other services, as many kings however mighty they might have been, were patrons of art. How, Lovely!!!
Gold may have been a legit money used to purchase goods. All this is from another era, centuries and centuries before.
There were Palace walls where precious rubies and gold elements were embedded into, and golden thrones of his and her highness . All this thought is alluring and fantastic, it would tempt you to read some stories that have all these grandeur element(: , which seem larger than life.
One that comes to my mind, is Lord of the Rings(LOTR) story remember that golden ring, the one ring of the dark lord that would control everybody in the world -
“One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them”
Then we had Gollum creature in the story who only had one precious in his life which is the above golden ring that ruined his life and converted him from a normal happy lovable person who enjoyed life to a most despicable, disgusting evil creature, who killed his best friend to get that golden ring. Makes one shudder, but that creature is funny too, loves riddles and when its fishing sings fish song It goes like this -
"Rock in the pool
So nice and cool
So juicy sweet!
Now we wish
To catch a fish
So juicy sweet!"
The corrupted ugly gollum’s english became inferior, judging from the lines of the song. Anyway!!!
And then we have another gold quoted verse on Aragon in the Lord Of The Rings story, his normal name is Strider
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
Wow… I enjoyed LOTR stories from the book not the cheap versions in the films, they are mesmerizing with verses and lores, songs, adventurous, joy, friendship, chivalry and so many things!!!...
So that’s gold used as a metaphor to mean something really pure, precious, attractive that can absolutely convert otherwise fine people into evil and mean people who completely lose their good, honourable self.
Remember in “The Hobbit”, Dwarf King, Thorin Oakenshield went mad with ‘Dragon sickness’ and ‘Gold Fever’ seeing all the gold in the cave at Lonely Mountain guarded by that cunning, evil and gold possessive Dragon “Smaug”.
The one jewel Thorin coveted was the Arkenstone -
"It was a globe with a thousand facets; it shone like silver in the firelight, like water in the sun, like snow under the stars, like rain upon the Moon!"
See that!! , gold stuff is so mesmerizing, like weaving sweet lines from heart to impress lover during romance almost as lot of beautiful verses are made on it!!
And in The Hobbit there is mention of a silver coat made of Mithrill that Thorin, before he was afflicted with 'Gold fever' fully, gave as a gift to dear Hobbit burglar, Bilbo Baggins who did the task of stealing jewels for the dwarves from Smaug dragon’s cave or dungeon whatever you may call it
" Mithril! All folk desired it. It could be beaten like copper, and polished like glass; and the Dwarves could make of it a metal, light and yet harder than tempered steel. Its beauty was like to that of common silver, but the beauty of mithril did not tarnish or grow dim."
Adding one more verse from the Hobbit that talks about the quest of the Dwarves to seek their long forgotten gold… There is some history narrated in the second part, which is a flashback from that time when the dwarves ' City and Civilisation was destroyed by Dragon Smaug.
"Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away ere break of day
To find our long-forgotten gold
The pines were roaring on the height
The winds were moaning in the night
The fire was red, it flaming spread
The trees like torches blazed with light"
Ohh, these rich verses, so priceless having such grand beauty. BTW, all these verses of jewels taken from descriptions of them given in 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit' stories, both written by a genius, JRR Tolkien. There was a time when I used to think that the book of LOTR looked like a unique historic bible, because the book is really fat, worth reading though and living the story, way more entertaining than watching movie!!
However personally, gold, though has monetary value is not worth it, taking it as a jewel, because it is procured by damaging our environment through mining. Mining weakens and disturbs earth’s soil, and causes chemical toxins of metals to be released into river beds, forests etc polluting our precious and fragile ecosystem. I have read mining causes earthquakes and tsunamis!! I am serious, google it. So, I don’t want any gold jewel.
However, I can understand people wanting to invest in gold and silver or equivalent of it, so they build wealth over time as the value of these metals increases due to appreciation over the long term!!
So, interested investors can invest in Golf Etfs, or silver ETFS but I would rather invest in my kind of gold and silver(: - BTC, beloved Bitcoin and LTC, silver , I consider them digital gold and digital silver and I value them as they don’t directly harm the environment. They have more uses than gold as you can transfer BTC/LTC as payment doing monetary transactions as well instead of our fiat money; the soverience currency controlled and manipulated by Govt. and central bank authorities.
BTC too has appreciated in value in time, from the time it was created in 2008 or 2009, it’s increased exponentially, more than returns you would have got from most stocks. For the next 3 years, I see BTC as digital gold as it has properties akin to gold as a store of value, and it is also scarce got through mining. There is a fixed supply of BTC and as bitcoin miners mine it, this digital currency becomes more scarce, so it’s value appreciates as it remains in demand. It’s solid gold, remember the days how… nevermind, I was imagining how beautiful a bitcoin code would have looked to a blockchain enthusiast of earlier times , I can’t imagine that because I don’t know nor understand coding(:
BTC has a monetary structure as it’s designed to have inflation over time with the Bitcoin halving event happening every 4 years, where in, a BTC miner’s reward gets reduced to half, so BTC miners mine less of BTC reducing the supply of this digital currency driving its price up. The next BTC halving event happens on May 2020. Finger’s crossed, maybe, maybe, maybe… big price rise then, never know!!
Now, ending with making certain things clear, shedding some wisdom -
- Don’t be too greedy. Yup we keep shouting about this going up and that, but you should invest after you learn about the financial product, doing some analysis, and putting money that you can afford to lose… Don’t expert to get rich soon, and get that impatience rush within you, wait, see the prices, try to buy when prices are low, instead of buying when the price has risen exponentially and you missed the rally. It’s ok!!!
For ex, you should have brought BTC when it bottomed out at 3600$, you missed that then when it recently came down to 7,400 $ to 8,000 $ levels you could have brought it. But, I think you can buy now, at 9,100$ instead of panicking when this coin starts flying to 10,000 $. Agreed, missed opportunities, but there is still opportunity to invest and get profits as the general trend for cryptos is bullish in general.
** - BTC may be costly, it’s not the only crypto you can invest on. **
There are other cool blockchain projects that are cheaper than BTC, check them out, they are at low prices, and when they go up, they perform better than Bitcoin - ETH, Link, VeChain, Dash, Neo and more. Don’t invest in shit coins, invest in coins that have a good team, are doing development work, have some use cases.
Be smart - Be smart use master card, kidding!! … I mean see,** why not check up platforms or Defi applications that earn you cryptos.** Steemit platform , you can earn Steem, which too has great potential, as it has features like smart contacts and you earn other cool tokens, Steemleo, cat token, photo token and what not. So, get creative and post nice things on Steemit, there are too many things in Steemit, Dtube and more, check them out… I know you can earn some cryptos by posting in Publishx too!! Keep at it, whether you earn anything or not, don’t be impatient.
- There is brave browser which earns you BAT tokens, if your website or youtube channel is registered to get tipped by viewers, over time you can earn BAT tokens.
- Why not check out those wallets like compound and celsius, where for your crypto deposits, you can earn interests in cryptos. There are many Defi applications that lend cryptos from your deposits for which you earn interest. Cool is it not?
*And lastly guys, be happy. See all this money is a means to an end, it’s not an end in itself. You think money has more value than happiness, living your purpose, doing stuff you love, having adventures, spending quality time with people that mean something to you? Just pointing things out, keep doing exciting things like crypto and wishing all of you great wealth, abundance and happiness along with sweet peace and wisdom that comes from experience!! *
I read about the question of accumulating gold and jewels and I have to admit that this is something I wish I could do, partly because I inherited my grandparents' pleasure of always keeping "a forecast in case something bad happens" so always that he could buy small amounts of precious metal and other things that he could accumulate, that was easy to transport in case of emergency and that would not be easily devalued.
As you can see, the BTC currently meets these qualities and is the new "Gold Standard" in our world economy, despite the unstable price and such dramatic variations, it cannot be denied that as a long-term investment term has given a good result. Those who bought when their value was less than $ 1000 insurance can support this idea.
The recommendation you give regarding the BRAVE browser I have seen it before on another side, in fact I am testing it, but I really believe that I have a lot to learn in order to get the best results, we will see in the future.
Regarding the monetarization of content in STEEM, I fully share the idea that it is an attractive way to do it and I love the possibility of creating community and building a network with exchange and creation values, although I know that there are still problems for Attract new users
I believe that a series of marketing campaigns are needed to call attention to the opportunity represented by this network and all the Dapps that are developed in this blockchain.
Thanks @pedrobrito2004 , for this very thoughtful comment. As for the investment on gold stuff during your grandparents time, that time it was good because price of gold was cheap and then it appreciated next 30 years, although you go to check graph for that. Now, gold is heavy, costly, lot of fake gold around and you buy that environmentally unfriendly metal you also pay more than the value of gold with the jewel making charges and other charges and perhapes taxes.
So, other than gifts that jewel serves no purpose, and I don't want such a gift because its got through mining although circumtances and society do pressure you to wear gold in occasions like marriages as in my Indian culture. It causes lots of financial strain too, even for the well to do.
That being one point, if you love Gold investment and blockchain technology, there is PAX-Gold, or a stable coin from Pax that gives owner a legal title to gold, so maybe you can check it out - I intend to mention it in my next crypto gold article but you can google and check...
Third BTC and gold... I am a BTC fan so easily take it as gold and we all know it shares characteristics of gold, also with BTC mining that does not damage environment. And it actually beating gold in its appreaciation price past 1 year recort- gold rose 18%, BTC 150% ...so yeah BTC accumulation at right times is good investment, just long term price will be greater than today anyway.
Brave, check it out... just enrol your youtube channel/blog to get tipped by brave and it can be passive income. Also for browsing you see ads and get brave, so can get brave. Yeah some time goes to research and learn all this, but you can do it, lot of videos around explaining it.
Steem, well... yup, hard work to earn steem but it's still good option with growing communities and maybe by joining groups, you can grow steem like participating in community contests may help, but when you get the dice rolling, you keep getting some steem and other cool tokens for content, so it definitely is worth sharng your here. Also, it motivates you to write great or make great content that you can post else where too, sharing knowledge/ideas is always nice atleast for me.
Thanks for reading and visiting.
Thank you for the recommendation about PAX-Gold.
I comment that in the ecological aspects, the mining of BTC has been criticized for the high consumption of energy and the need for cooling systems, but I have seen projects that use renewable and clean energy that have left me with a good impression, I think there is an operational one in China and another one that was in project in Paraguay (South America), I don't know if there was one of solar energy in the USA and something of a hydroelectric project in Canada ... of these last two I don't remember well.
Hello dear @mintymile, thanks for sharing and supporting project hope.
The world of cryptography is something fascinating, I think that everyone here, little by little we are learning from this, knowing how and when to invest is something key that can leave us profits, in time some will become experts.
Thanks for your tips.
@fucho80
@fucho80,
Yup no one is an expert in investing, even experts learned by making mistakes. Yes, reading and learning, trading and learning... and following good principals like investing only what you can afford to lose, on prjects that have value, that have fundamental reasons to go up would be good. It's gambling only, a bit.
Anyway, keep growing learning cryptos and benefit(: ...we all would love it if we make the profits!! , although I am also interested in the good impacts crypto and the blockchain technology would do to society.
Bitcoin has it's own disadvantages too, like it costs a lot of electricity to mine it, as much as it could power a small country.

Resteemed already. Upvote on the way :) (need to wait till voting power will fully reacharge)
Thankyou, @project.hope for doing that!! I hope this helps @project.hope too, is very good effort to support the small group of Venezuleans this way and since personal funds were used to take project forward, I really wanted to give some Steem if I get any from the content I post as add on, I get other benefits including your team's efforts to promote the article so I get good steem too, its such a win-win situation, so glad to support this project for that.
Thanks @mintymile for being so supportive and responsive
ps.
I hope you don't mind that I would invite you to check out my latest post: FINALLY IT'S TIME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF AND SHARE MY VISION AND GOALS.
