The literary movement of the 13th century in Italy - "the sweet new style" /part 3/

in #godflesh6 years ago (edited)

In the poetry of "The Sweet New Style," the beauty of the beloved is a symbol of God's beauty to which the soul of man is drawn. And love is, in fact, the urge to God. Since the woman is the inspirer of all passions, the joy of her contemplation is accompanied by silent resist of the sensual gusts, i. the man who is submissive to love is called to compare the earthly with the heavenly love and to uphold the purity of the first in the moral plane. This is, in fact, the main theme in the "sweet new style" - the spiritual elevation of the earthly individual through love for the perfection of heavenly love, which is achieved in a different way by individual stylists.

The founder of the lyrical tendency "sweet new style" Bujaintuna from Luke was a judge and a notary who in his free time directed poems in which he praised, under the influence of the Provencal poets, the love experience. The Provansals imitate in his poems also the Sicilian poet Jacopo, whose nickname is the Notary because he was professionally a notary. Gutonne, born most likely in the 1930s and lived until 1294, is the leading poet of the Tuscan poetry school, which raises mystic love in cult. Below we will look in more detail at the contribution to the emergence of the "sweet new style" of this late-medieval Italian poet. The name of the "Sweet New Style" circle is explained in a series of poems (55-63) of song XXIV in the Pantyhose Pain of the Early Renaissance poem by Dante "The Divine Comedy". In them, the poet-songwriter Bujaintuna Orbicciani of Luke declares that what is contained in the poetry of Jacopo by Gueton and his own works, preceded the Dante / 57th verse / "the sweet new style" recognizes that the poets of the new school "speak words that feel dictates".

In song XXV of Purgatory, Dante meets Bujaintuna, who recognizes the author of the New Life collection. In fact, in Dante's answer, it is not claimed that the stylists are more sentimental than the Sicilians and the Tuscan, but emphasize their mastery in describing the varying psychic states that Amour loves and the zeal of these poets to make them into a "sweet form" . It is obvious, however, that the author of "New Life" distanced himself from the lyrical tradition, followed by the old Tuscan and Sicilian poets, who were mainly gifted as songwriters, as skilled rhetoric, as masters of form whose works lack the "sweetness "In recreating the thrills of true love. Dante is the first medieval writer who tries to penetrate into his own soul and give accurate account of his feelings." "He is the first to give his psychological analysis and artistic form. In fact, well-received, Dante's definition of "sweet new style" emphasizes not only the significance of the true recreation of true love. It refers to the original verse of the collection "New Life" - "Women You Love You Know!" - and the formula that follows the cycle of love sonnets. According to Dante, the lives and conflicts of feelings, caught in almost ritual formulas and filled gradually with symbolic meanings, must go through the purifying activity of absolute intellectual tension and be introduced in a strictly stylized expression.
