Some thoughts about the philosophy in the middle ages. God as a goal. Theology.

in #godflesh6 years ago (edited)

The medieval man lived in a world created by God. The theoretical interpretations of this situation constituted theology.
Aristotle's "doctrine of the divine" is concretized by Christian theology in the interpretation of the attitude of the Creator to the created (to himself, directly or through the created) and to the attitude of the Creator towards the Creator (and to himself). The "objects" of theology are multiplied: "the perfect being", "the higher essence", "the Holy Trinity", "the union of the divine and the earthly in the person and work of Jesus Christ", "the light of man's soul and the dungeon of his body" , "fall," "repentance," "redemption," "salvation," "sermon," "punishment" ...

God set the world around him with all mankind. Theology deals with overcoming, overcoming this world. It explained the world according to the doctrine of the higher essence, therefore theology was a doctrine of the world of God, and a doctrine of the world of man directed toward God. If philosophy was to show how world was made, theology described how the world was made of God and what is this world. It was important to man: he ought to know what a world is, he should have known that the Lord God had done it; he ought to know what every mortal must do to attain God. The man was obliged to know that earthly life was bodily, sinful, suffering; that the carnal is sinful and corrupt, and that the soul is pure and immortal; that God is attained spiritually, not material.

And God did so that His man had as his purpose; and God has made a way to find the way to Him - to Dionysius Areopagitus' Mystical Theology or to the rationalist Sums of St. Thomas Aquinas. The style of theological thinking was postulated. What has been said by authority is an absolute truth. The imposed uncriticality placed a sign of equality between theology and theology - every dogma of theology was placed as an object of faith; any deviation from the dogma was declared heresy and anathematized ...

Intermediaries. The place of philosophy

The words coming from God found a covenant in the Holy Scriptures. The priests relied on the divinely inspired Bible and canonized her text. From the beginning, a list of books, proclaimed as undoubtedly dictated by God, was proclaimed from the beginning, then all the books of the Old Testament and the New Testament, with proven authority, as far as the decisive step, for the inspirational to indicate each letter of every version illuminated by the church . Constantine-Cyril Philosopher's Khazar Mission has substantially strengthened the Lord-God tendency to speak in all languages. The Bible was recognized as a sacred book and because it is the living God, whose existence is sacred.
