Some thoughts about Fyodor Dostoevsky and his work "Crime and Punishment " /part 2/

in #godflesh6 years ago (edited)

Obsessed with the idea, Raskolnikov is becoming more and more convinced that he is from this category of people. To prove it to himself, he decides to kill the old lender. Indeed, the hero is plunged into poverty, but not his severe financial condition leads him to the crime (even does not take advantage of the stolen), and his desire to understand to which category he falls and, of course, his desire to belong to the "elected". The justification for this act is that this woman, Aylona Ivanovna, is a parasite, and that if he kills her, he will do a favor to mankind. In an almost insane state, which is far from the calmness and logic with which he believed that a superman would have to do such an act, he managed to kill the loaner with an ax.

Through the image of Raskolnikov Dostoevsky he expresses his philosophical views of the individualist individual, striving to put himself above others and to rise above the law. When he kills a loaner, whose life he thinks worth nothing - like the life of a louse, the hero is forced to kill the humble and good Lizzhava. A crime is inevitably followed by another crime, a source of new and new misdeeds. Raskolnikov is a man proud, unselfish, ghastly and disbelieving, lonely - a mysterious and interesting personality. This is perhaps because he is convinced of his own exclusivity. Raskolnikov fails to realize his theory but realizes himself as a killer, and that is precisely his tragedy, his personal drama. The consciousness of the conscience, the icy fear that pursues him at every step, the consciousness of the unreasonably done evil, the consciousness of his own affliction, the indifference to become "the ruler", the understanding of the bankruptcy of his theory - all weigh on the criminal's soul. The character passes through Hell from psychological torment and moral annoyances revealed by extraordinary drama. The young man is constantly in a strange mental state, caused by his sense of sin.

From the very beginning of the novel, Raskolnikov is torn apart by a split, is in a dialogue with himself / herself - to commit the crime, is it justified, and is it a lion or strong person, a lord, to surrender, why he has not touched of your life, where is the truth? Shortly after the assassination, Raskolnikov became ill and bedded. Hides the moneykeeper's money under a stone and does not look for them anymore. But in my opinion, the link between crime and disease in the novel is very profound. Although opposed to the society he lives in, Raskolnikov is permeated by his "poisons and beginnings," his sick soul is a reflection of this sick world. The crime is committed in a state of painful excitement - he himself realizes in the moment of enlightenment that he has made a "mistake." He is blamed on the obsession that everyone suspects him of the murder. Even when he goes to the plot for the first time, it seems strange that no one doubts him. "Crime and Punishment" is built on the opposition crimes - punishment and sin - redemption. Raskolnikov carries out a crime that leads to his punishment, imposed by his own conscience, follows the sense of sin, and ultimately the redemption comes.
