11 And they said unto Moses, Were there no graves in Egypt, that thou hast brought us out to die in the wilderness? Why have you done so with us, that you have brought us out of Egypt?
12 Is not this what we speak to you in Egypt, saying, Let us serve the Egyptians? Because it would be better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert.
13 And Moses said to the people, Be not afraid; stand firm, and see the salvation that Jehovah will do today with you; because the Egyptians that you have seen today, you will never see them again forever.

Exodus 14:11-13
There's no guarantee that God will fight for you. God allows Christians to be persecuted. Millions have suffered for their faith in recent years. Thousands and thousands have died. But yes, our hope is in God. We should pray for his protection and deliverance.
