Samuel and the voice of God: In those days the word of the LORD was rare; there were not many visions. 1 Samuel 3:1

The first book of Samuel begins by narrating the conception of the prophet Samuel and how his mother, Hannah, a god-fearing woman, by his miraculous birth consecrated him to the Lord. The Bible also tells us that Samuel was surely a nazirite because of the vow his mother made to the Lord when she arrived in the temple of the Lord in Shiloh: "LORD Almighty, if you will only look on your servant's misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head" 1 Samuel 1:11.
The nazirites were very special persons in ancient times, and the First Book of Samuel tells us that the Lord was always very close to Samuel.
And the sacred scriptures tell us about a very special moment in the life of Samuel, how he knew the voice of the Lord, but before he described to us what those times were like: "The boy Samuel ministered before the LORD under Eli. In those days the word of the LORD was rare; there were not many visions" 1 Samuel 3:1.
Samuel tells us the Bible heard a voice during the night and thought it was the voice of Eli the priest of the temple, and so it happened several times, until Eli told him what he should do if the heard the voice again, and so, Samuel prophesied to Eli for the first time.
Samuel had been called by the voice of God to be above all a prophet and also a judge of Israel, so says the Bible: "The LORD was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of Samuel's words fall to the ground. And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba recognized that Samuel was attested as a prophet of the LORD" 1 Samuel 3:19-20.
Samuel played a very important role as a spiritual leader and led Israel from the transition from monarchy to kingship by anointing Saul and then David as kings blessed by God, and the voice of God never abandoned Samuel.
