How Wi-Fi is Changing

Wi-Fi connections have revolutionized the way that we connect to the Internet. We use them at home, work, school, cafes, gyms, and even on airplanes (usually for sky-high rates)! However, many people are growing a bit wary of these public connections which can leave users vulnerable since you never really know who all is using the same connection that you are.

89% of households in the U.S. with broadband service use Wi-Fi and there are, on average, 15 devices connected wirelessly in a home.

There’s no absolute guarantee that a Wi-Fi connection is the best connection you can get to surf the Internet. In fact, stationary modem connection speeds can really lag and sometimes you just might be better off using an Internet connection through your mobile phone provider. 4G LTE is really pretty fast. Your mom’s low-cost home Internet might not stand a fighting chance against it.

One development projected for the future of Wi-Fi is next-generation Wi-Fi hotspots (NGH) where authorized users can have their devices automatically join networks without usernames and passwords. Who wouldn’t want to bypass all those cumbersome login screens and save time in trying to figure out what password you are typing in on a touch-screen device?

2019 should start the process of adopting 802.11ax, something that is hyped as being faster than the Wi-Fi chips being used now.

Wi-Fi modules are built into just about all of our modern devices. Global Wasp is a company that wants to put all of this existing connectivity to use and provide their clients with access to the internet everywhere where there are GlobalWasp users. Stay tuned for more information about this Wi-Fi enabled technology.
