Following Johnny

in #giving7 years ago

In the early days of the exploration of the North American continent, there was a man who became known as Johnny Appleseed. His nomadic lifestyle and a business model based on giving made him a legend. drjohnthumb.JPG

His real name was John Chapman. He died in Fort Wayne Indiana in the Spring of 1845 at age 71. He was a missionary who planted apple trees.

The point of this post is to applaud his lifestyle. How many trees would you guess he planted? How many mouths bit into one of his fruit? How many pies? How many jugs of cider?

He spent his life helping people and planting seeds for the future. Nice Life!

Life has curved since the 1800's. The electronic age is here.

What kind of help do people need today? What are the best seeds to plant for the future? The answers to these questions are diverse with none being universally true. If pressed for a single answer, it would be Steemit.

With consistent effort, the Steemit community can feed you. What did Johnny eat as he traveled? Where did he sleep? Did he worry about such things or did he trust in God to supply his needs?

Consider the alternatives he had in 1780 when he was a young man. What kind of legacy will you leave? Specifically, how many seeds will you plant? What will these seeds become?

Here is today's beauty.

Beautiful comparison. Never knew he died in Indiana. Still catching on my Indiana history since moving here a few years ago.

@doctorjohn
I like good apples. We need another Johnny Appleseed in our day.
But, I know that most of the country is too populated today. Private land owners would just cut the trees down.
Oh well. We can still have good apples.

Thanks for this information I remember hearing about him in my youth many years ago I think lit was on the Walt Disney TV show. I also wonder how many of the jugs of cider were hard cider. Have a nice Sunday.

nice post @doctorjohn ...however stating that 1845 is the early days of the North American continent exploration is quite inaccurate bearing on mind that first settlements date back to early 1500s
