Vegetables and fruits that are perfect to grow with the help of children.

Community of @steemit growing fruits, vegetables and herbs with children is an excellent way to involve them in an outdoor activity and help them to know where different foods come from. But some plants may take a long time to develop, and it is not known that children's periods of care are long. That's why the speed of growth is an important factor, and you should try to find plants that resist an abnormally cold day or an intense rain, that's why I have compiled information on herbs, vegetables and fruits that can be grown with children and guarantee us a good result:

Green peas:

Peas are one of the best vegetables to grow with children, since they can be eaten like peas directly on the plant (after washing them, of course). Harvest the peas at a very early age and use them as peas until the peas are thick inside their pods.

It is important to remember that the seeds are not edible, so if you are sowing with very small children, make sure they do not put them in their mouths and wash their hands after handling the seeds.

Approximately two or three months after planting the seeds, you will have delicious peas to eat or cook for tasty dishes.

Lettuce:

The lettuce loves the cool weather of early spring and autumn. Lettuce grows quickly, in about 45 to 55 days, so you can plant it little by little, and it's perfect for growing in pots if you do not have space in your garden. Give your lettuce plenty of water to keep the soil moist and to prevent its leaves from wilting.

Radish:

Radishes are a fast growing vegetable that only takes 40 to 45 days to grow. In addition, children will have fun cutting these root vegetables at the time of harvest. They will germinate in a few days if they are sown in the spring.

Carrot:

The carrot, like the radish, is fun for children to plant and it takes between 2 and 3 months to grow, so they need a little patience, but they are worth it.

Potatoes:

The time of growth of the potato varies considerably, from 70 to 120 days. You can plant them in early spring to have potatoes ready to eat before the summer. Potatoes are a fun plant to grow for children because germinated potatoes can be something of a science project. You simply need to put your seed potatoes in the sun until the germs begin to form before planting them in your garden.

Green beans:

Green beans are another fun plant to grow because children will love watching them grow. They are also fast, taking between 65 and 75 days to develop. Green beans are good for planting in hot climates, so wait until the risk of frost disappears before you begin to plant them.

Cherry tomatoes:

Cherry tomatoes are easy to grow and do not take as long as the larger varieties. These will take between 65 and 70 days to develop. They are perfect fruits to eat on the plant.

Basil:

There are several varieties of basil, including basil, purple basil, basil with lemon and Thai basil, so be sure to research to decide which is the best option for you.

You can start growing your basil by planting it indoors in early spring, and then sowing it later when the weather warms to around 21 ° C.

Basil is a very fast growing plant that takes between eight and fourteen days to grow out of the soil and two or three weeks later to grow the first set of edible leaves.
