Review of A Dollar A Day

Hello steemians, this is my entry for the Review Contest organised by @girlsfoundation which is centered on reviewing of the activities of @adollaraday.

The idea behind the initiative

The above mentioned project was initiated by @pennsif back in November last year he started a little project for charitable giving and called it ‘A Dollar A Day'. It was all initiated in order to return one of the most beautiful parts of steem - being able to give, freely.
Each day he donated 1 SBD to a charitable cause on steemit.
It was only meant to be a small personal project to make it easy for him to give money to good causes on steemit, based on the 'little and often' principle.Two factors came together however to make it much successful than he had envisaged with over US$1000 being raised in less than two months.
Firstly some other generous folk on steemit joined him in the initiative - @gmuxx, @mother2chicks and @HopeHuggs
@pennsif decided to restart the A Dollar A Day project from 1 May giving out a minimum of 1 SBD every day to a charitable cause.

@hungryhustle very kindly offered to produce a logo for the project and within a few days it was done..

Use of steem power

Dollar A Day is using that steem power to auto-vote the people and projects that receive the daily donations.

Impacts

A Dollar A Day had been able to reach out to numerous persons through the blockchain by sponsoring certain projects ranging from education, women empowerment, girl child empowerment and alot more

• Girl-child/Enlightenment: A Dollar A Day has also been able to reach out to the girl child in number of schools and orphanages by providing support to the Girl foundation group which has a vision to reach out to female children and help in different ways possible

• Education: @adollaraday has made it possible for children to have another shot at an education all over the world by providing funds needed to send various children to school, they are also supporters of the Steemit Literacy Training Centre in Cameroon.

• Women Empowerment: A Dollar A Day through the Women Empowerment project and Woman’s Co-operative have been able to empower women by providing counselling, support and aid as needed by these women!
