Hello ladies! Lately there has been a movement to empower young women and I am all for it. Whether it is fighting off pushing relatives during the holidays, or unreasonable coworkers during those late night shifts, a lady needs to know how to act like the boss. Because in the end you are the queen of your own own life, and no one but you has the right to boss you around. So here are the ten rules every GirlBoss should follow!
#1-Dress to impress. Whether your style is ripped jeans and cotton shirts, or lace dresses and heels, a girl should always put thought into her outfit. It is the first thing everyone sees when they look at you. It allows you to convey yourself to the world. And it shows that you value yourself enough to put effort into how you look. What is a queen without her crown?!
#2-Take care of yourself. Clean your skin, carve out time for you to work out and relax, eat vitamins and healthy food. Don't forget to drink plenty of water! A good boss knows she deserves to be a leader, to make big decisions. A good boss loves herself, and when you love something you take care of it. If you don't take care of yourself, you will not be able to take care of anyone else.
#3-Do not depend on anyone else. Family, friends and romantic relationships are great. You can love your family and help them out. But you must never, under any circumstances depend on them. A boss never knows when she has to fire someone, or move to a different company. People can be unpredictable. The only one you can count on is yourself.
#4-Educate yourself. A good leader stays informed. She stays informed on current events, on art and popular culture and on the comings and goings of everyone around her. How can you make decisions if you do not have information? How can you expect others to listen to you, if you do not have evidence to support your arguments.
#5-Be firm but fair. You must listen to other people. A good boss listens to her employees and works hard to improve their lives as well as her own wallet. It is important to keep an open mind, sometimes the best ideas are built from compromises. But if you know you are right, you must not back down. You must always stand up for yourself. A good boss loves herself enough to trust her opinions.
#6-Work hard. A boss is a boss because she is the best at what she dose. You can not be the best if you do not work hard. You must find what you love, and how you can use that to make money. You must practice those things everyday. Ask for help, get feedback and give 100% to everything in life. The more you put into something, the more you will get out.
#7-Have passion. When you love yourself you do not wish to waste your time. It is far to valuable. If a person is dragging you down, cut them off. If a job or hobby is not giving you the utmost joy and satisfaction then end it and find something else. Life it short and to precious to waste on things that do not bring you joy. You can't expect to work hard at something if you don't love it.
#8-Forgive. Humans are imperfect, they often make mistakes. You yourself will make tons of mistakes. It dose not mean you are a failure, it dose not mean they are a failure. It dose not mean you are a failure. Learn the lesson from the mistake and move on. I am not asking you to be a doormat, you can forgive a toxic person and cut them out of your life if they keep making the same mistakes with no hope of improvement. See mistakes as an opportunity for change, not a road block.
#9-Be confident. You are the boss. You must carry yourself with pride and strength. Keep a good posture, speak up and brush off the haters. You love yourself. You must trust yourself to form opinions and try new things. Mistakes are nothing to be afraid of, everyone makes them. They are merely opportunities to become even better, And fellow people, should not concern you. They are not you, they do not live your life. Who cares if they judge you? They are NOT the boss of you. You know what is best for you, and you don't have time to waste doubting yourself.
#10-LOVE YOURSELF!!! This has come up with every commandment because it is so important. You can not be the boss if you do not trust yourself to make decisions for yourself and other people. And you can not trust someone you do not love. You must love yourself, even if it is hard and take times. You are completely unique, with your own beauty and set of talents. The odds of you existing at all are 1 in 102,685,000! You must learn to love yourself, because life is to short to spend moping around, beating yourself up. You must yourself, and trust yourself to be an amazing #girlboss!
