Family Christmas Traditions | Making & Giving Gifts
One of my favorite things about Christmas is being able to share the joy of the season!
The birth of a Savior is no little matter. And the life He gives is infinitely more than I can fathom. So how can we possibly celebrate without joy, excitement, awe, and wonder?!
Christmas for our family
I didn’t actually grow up celebrating Christmas, so “discovering” it as a grownup means all the charm of Christmastime is still there. (Yes, I really am still enjoying the Christmas music ... just pretend not to notice when I can’t sing all the lyrics, please.)
An added benefit is that I don’t have any preconceived notions of what I think Christmas should look like. And since Matt’s not one for traditions anyway, that leaves us to figure out what Christmas means for our family together.
For one thing, we want it to be a time of celebrating with friends. A time to share what we’ve been given.
Giving > Receiving
With our girls, we want them to understand the importance of thinking of others more than themselves. Ultimately, we want what we give to take priority over what we hope to get.
So what did we decide to give?
As one of our gifts this year, I crocheted mini stockings. A lot of love (and midnight oil) went into making these cuties. The girls offered to help, but the yarn kept running away from them. In the end, Mommy decided it was easier to crochet when the twinnies were asleep.
Once the stockings were finished, we stuffed them with candies, chocolates, and Sharpie markers - a few essentials to give to our teacher friends 😉
All set for delivery!
