Gif - 2 pictures - 3D effect
A few years ago in April 2010, I noticed an interesting 3D effect while browsing my pictures.

Gif image made from 2 images using Gimp, with frame delay of one second (1000ms).

I tried to reproduce this effect, and had some success.

Maybe I'll make more gifs like this.
PS: I'm thinking to make a tutorial and a contest for you to make this kind of gifs. What do you think?
Turns out, I don't have time to make a detailed post, but here is the wiggle just for you, bro:
Note the alignment; all points move on the same horizontal plane.
Android app 3DSteroid to take S3D pics and align them properly:

(also avail. for iPhone as i3DSteroid)
Full fledged S3D editor: (Windows or Wine)

Well done! Yet this gif made from 2 images has actualy 24 frames for the transition effect.

This is like a video. I want to keep it simple.
Anyway thanks for the details. here is a tip!
I think that the 2 images need to have a fixed common point and the angle from that point to be horizontal...
Well, the transition is something optional. The key is to treat it like proper stereoscopy, except the parallax doesn't have to adhere to the stereo window. Any point that looks pleasing will do.
It's called a wiggle (google) and it's related to stereoscopic 3D (s3d). With a properly aligned stereo window the effect can be quite convincing.
There are free progs and apps for s3d. The star of the s3d scene is Masui Suto from Japan. Recommend StereoPhotoMaker for Windows or Wine, Steroid3D for Android.
3D photos can be taken with any camera. (Google ChaCha technique.)
I'll post a properly aligned wiggle tomorrow or so, as it ties in with an upcoming video of mine. Follow me to be notified of this.
I want to welcome you in the family, and to help if is required .
