I HAVE MILLIONS OF WORKERS AND MY JOB IS SWEET!!

in #ghsc6 years ago

Hey everyone, not everyone can say that right? You may be thinking Branson Trump etc? Not even they have millions of workers, I sure do ;) Well those of you that follow me know what I am but many don't. I am a bee-keeper and technically I guess all bee-keepers can say that, what a great feeling it is.

These two hives featured in this video are very new and ironically it takes time to build up massive swarms, we got these two both for free and they are already MASSIVE what a lucky strike for us.

Be sure to check out my last post here featuring my latest mega swarm

Usually one only puts supers on hives in season and when the swarm is very strong. We collected the bigger hive in this video and the very next day we put a super on. We are about to put another one on as this swarm does not have enough space in the box, doing so will free up space for them as well as render us more honey. The smaller hive we collected last night and will put a super on in a week or two to harvest end of November odd.

Just look at that epic hive of activity, such bliss to the eyes of any enthusiastic bee-keeper and I certainly am.

Be sure to stay tuned for more of my epic bee-keeping adventures.

Cheer$;)

Congrats on the new hive and colony! Those hives aren't cheap!

I'm unable to get the wife on board yet, which is okay I suppose. I'll keep gently suggesting it.

How do you mow their little area? I think if I were a bee and you brought a lawnmower by my house I'd be pretty upset... Do you use a goat from @buckaroo?

Lol I'd use her goats but shes about 1500 kms from me. Well I dunno actually I dont mow the lawn:P Cheer$;)

@nateonsteemit you DON'T! Bees are super sensitive so I don't blame your wife for not being on board. While not the African killer bee that we have any vibrations or too loud sound will send your hive into war mode. My mother lost a number of sheep that were grazing too close to hives (many years ago). I lost my entire flock of young hens when we first arrived here after one little chick pecked at a bee on the hive. Keeping bees is amazing but you need to be sure they are secure - from disturbance or outside interference or you can have a tragedy. Which means no. I wouldn't let me precious goats near a bee hive

Wow, I didn't know they were that mean lol. No goats indeed! And in my case, no children! My kiddos would see it as a new thing to throw things at, so I guess I'll join the wife's side and not get bees for a while.

Hmmmm... I know a thing or two about bees but I'd still stick with your wife's preference. Maybe I should do a "tips on beekeeping post"

Haha love the introduction! As long as youre not a bastard boss to the workers. Although they seem pretty focused :)
