Fake Reporters Fool Ghanian Officials

Thanks to a lapse in security a deputy minister and another top Ghanaian official in our sports regulatory angecy because of a serious visa scandal that led to about 60 fake journalists being able fly to Australia for the Commonwealth Games.

On Thursday April 12 official Pius Enam Hadzide and the interim Director General of the National Sports Council, Honorable Robert Sarfo Mensah were suspended pending investigation into their negligence. Currently a preliminary investigations has led to the arrest of sixty Ghanaian citizens. They are accused of attempting to enter Australia under false pretenses to gain access to the Commonwealth Games.

The fraudsters were exposed after the Australian immigration and customs authorities asked them sports questions but they failed to produce correct answers. Investigators believe that they received gotten the visas via illegal connections and with the assistance of people in powerful positions. As part of ongoing investigations the president has recalled other officials to return home and submit to interrogation.

This is another example of corruption fueled by greed and poverty within Ghana. When ministers abuse their positions to give perks to their associates. thankfully these individuals were caught but only because the authorities in another country intercepted them. How can we feel safe or progress when our police, politicians and bigmen are all feeding their pockets whilst lying to us about how hard they are working to fix the problem. let us hope that the Officials responsible find themselves paying hefty fines and facing prosecution for their misdeeds.
