Halloween 3 (film): The only one with no Michael and well, it didn't work

The movie's phrase is "Season of the Witch" and it was an attempt (and I am guessing) at making the franchise be about more than the killer Michael Myers.

This was a bold step because the fans of the franchise in 1982 quite liked the previous 2 films which of course, centered around Micahel Myers.

The movie isn't horrible, it just wasn't what the fans were looking for. It would be like going to see Nightmare on Elm Street only to discover that Freddy isn't even in the film or Friday the 13th with no Jason Vorhees. It doesn't make sense.

John Carpenter also stepped away from directing although he did serve as a producer. I can find no record of what he thought of not including Mike Myers in the script, but i would imagine that he would now say he was not pleased with it.

The story focuses around a costume manufacturer who has a series of popular masks that contain some sort of magical powers that will be activated when the wearers watch some sort of magical television activation. It is still creepy, especially by 1982 standards, but I rewatch this movie only for the "what the hell were they thinking" moments. The only reference to MIchael Myers is presented in a reference to fictional stories inside the movie and only briefly at that.

overall this movie is a pretty important part of history only because it didn't make much sense to change an already successful system into something that was unproven. The movie still managed to make a decent profit, but was met with mostly negative critical review and fan-fare. It has its moments, but they are few and far between.

The producers intended for Halloween to be an anthology series, but the sequel with Michael Meyers made the third the odd one out. If this was Halloween II, the series might be drastically different today.

This film is OK. As a parent the concept is pretty scary and that creepy Silver Shamrock jingle has taken on a life of its own outside the film.

The trailer was really boring, and the rating completely justified! And yes, that's appreciative that you not only come up with 'what's in the film exactly!' but also why it wasn't good or how it could be good. anyways keep flourishing!

@gooddream sir !
Through your blog I am getting some amazing movies suggestion to see it.
First I see your trailers then I choose movie to see.

good! That is kind of the idea :)

I respect your opinion, but in my opinion this is the best movie for people who are intersested to watch thriller and medical movies.

When I first watched this film, I was surprised: this is the only part of the franchise in which Michael Myers is not present, and it is not clear how it relates to the rest of the series (except, obviously, the time of the action is Halloween).
I cannot say that the film does not please me. Of course, there are very few murders in it, and those that exist (for example, tearing off the head with bare hands) look bleak and unremarkable against the general background. The only moment that I find is not something scary, but at least frightening is when snakes, spiders and various insects crawl out of the mouth, nose and eye sockets wallowing on the floor and writhing in convulsions boys.
With all the drawbacks, I find one big plus: "Halloween 3" is one of the few parts of the famous series in which there is a mystic. There is a silver trefoil, mysterious ancient stones with magical powers and much more. A picture of Jack-o'-lantern (if someone does not know - this is a pumpkin with flesh removed, cut out holes for the eyes, nose and mouth and a burning candle inserted inside) against a blue background looks fascinating, as if hypnotizing.
