Nong Buak Haad Park in Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is a pretty busy city. There are over a million people here and since there is very little the the way of public transport, it can start to feel like a concrete jungle very quickly. I discovered this small park completely by random and it also has come interesting history to it.
I stumbled upon it because the entire "old city" of Chiang mai is surrounded by castle walls. That probably isn't the right word for them, and also a moat. You can walk all the way around this but to be honest it is actually very far and there is a lot of traffic. So when i got to the south-west corner of the whole thing i was going to wrap up the walking for the day and right there in front of me as i was firing up my Grab app (it's like Uber,) was this park. It is so small that on Google Maps, unless you really zoom in, you can't really even tell it is there.
The park was impeccably clean and there weren't even very many people inside and only a few shops selling coffee and fruit shakes and what not. They also sell bird seed so you can easily make friends with the hundreds of pigeons that call this place home.
despite the fact that 3 sides of the park have roads on them (busy ones) it somehow seems so peaceful in here. I really enjoyed it. All the shade and the fountains makes it feel much cooler although since you are still in Thailand it is still very hot.
The history of the part was a showing of solidarity between Japan and Thailand. The royals of both countries planted some special trees that I forgot the name of and if you know please tell me.
Also there were some really tall trees (for Thailand) that appeared to not have bark at all and were multi-colored. Again, if you know what these are please tell me as it was not explained in the park at all. Perhaps they are common in the north of Thailand - i wouldn't know. I am from the south.
All in all I am very happy I stumbled upon this place because in the middle of a busy city, it can be really wonderful to encounter some nature, even if is a small place.
It's my understanding that people like to post what camera they used for their photos so I'll do that. It's whatever garbage camera is included in a Samsung J-7. This phone wasn't top-of-the-line when i got it 3 years ago and I don't think it is even available to buy anymore.
Lovely images from the Nong Buak Haad park in chiang Mai. Chang Mai is a pretty busy city as you just mentioned but I am glad despite all those traffic and non peaceful environment you found this lovely Park to relax. Even better is the fact of its history behind. Thanks for sharing and have some good time.

You really had a wonderful adventure in a busy city as you called it and left with some unanswered couple of question. I would have loved to provide answers to them but definitely it has to deal on research too. And sure where ever you find pigeon its sure a good place for relaxation because that's what they portray serenity. I love places as this despite a busy place but one should still have good time when visiting so you tell stories and not all about how busy the life was while visiting. Your phone camera is awesome and samsung camera impresses. Thanks for really sharing this awesome trip you had.
Thats a place for peace of mind
nice all the pictures you took
