I nice collection of (hopefully) misunderstood clothing
I used to collect stuff like this. It happens all over Asia and I actually quite enjoy the fact that the clothing and the statements that are made on it are either completely inappropriate for the wearer or doesn't really make sense. I have no idea if this is done intentionally or accidentally, but I think it is hilarious.
It came to my attention one day when a gardener where in some villas was wearing a shirt with a very cryptic origin. I was thinking to myself "i can't believe this guy has that! I love that shirt"
source
Now in order for this guy to understand what he was wearing he would have to be familiar with the Saturday Night Live skits with Will Ferrell as Alex Trebek and primarily Darrel Hammond as Sean Connery. I asked the gardener if he knew what it was and he said "oh, this is just a shirt."
I am quite certain there are westerners running around with Chinese or Japanese symbols on their clothing that also have no idea what it says. Hopefully not something offensive.
it might just be punk rock, i dunno, but i think it is funny
although I don't think it belongs on a 7-year old, there have been multiple instances in my life where I could definitely identify with the statement on this one
of course this isn't the kid's fault, but I wonder if the parents have any idea
this last one is the style you are most likely to encounter in Thailand, something that is nearly correct, but has made some crucial error in the message - these are the ones I search for and they are for sale many times in places whose corporate structure would probably be able to detect the error such as Tesco - this leads me to believe that it is in fact intentional.
There are entire websites dedicated to this sort of phenomenon and it isn't restricted to clothing. The site is called Engrish.com and it is really worth a look if you are bored one day. Maybe everyone out there doesn't spend as much time looking at stupid S**T online as i do.
I don't need to go there because I can see it just in my everyday life by simply walking around. Do you have any examples of poorly worded slogans on clothing? Keep in family-friendly (no more racy than the "Cat Shit" one) and I will reward you accordingly.
Please do not assume that I am trying to say anything negative about Asian people, learning another language is extremely difficult and I can first-hand relate to how hard it is
If you watch season 3 of chinese food for thought of the grand tour on amazon prime they highlight one of these shirts of a women on a bus. It does have the f bomb on the shirt which they fond hillarious and discuss the same thing.

I agree most of them must be done intentionally but some also must be genuine mistakes. I used to get a giggle out of the translated Chinese to English instruction manuals. In the end we had to get them all redone as just nothing made sense.
that is a BIG problem over here. Most anything is made in China anyway but in thailand the thai and and the english translations are so horribly wrong that no one knows how to deal with the product. They have reverted to making wordless picture instruction manuals instead. It is pretty funny but also frustrating af.
The kid wearing cocaine's written stuff is so cute

you are absolutely correct about that! super-cute.
Oh so funny and so true. Loving the hung over one. Wonder if it smells like smoke, beer and cheese? If so, that kid might have a problem and actually know what that means. Hehehe.
Ha. Those are funny as hell. I once heard about people getting tattoos with Chinese symbols thinking they meant something while they obviously did not. You must be pretty dumb to do that lol.
or be Ariana Grande who has an ongoing fiasco with botched tattoos on her hand that read something along the lines of "budget BBQ grills"... haha! https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/ariana-grande-attempts-to-fix-tattoo-gets-it-wrong-again/
haha, I want a baby-sized shirt that says "Cocaine." that's fantastic! My dad used to tell me my real dad is Jack Daniels.
I just found a t-shirt on a site: 'No Silicon'. A blond girl was wearing this. :)
And I really like the: "My boyfriend is out of town" t-shirts.
Yes, I think it is very common in those parts of the world to use this kind of explicit messages. Not only on clothes, but also on advertisements and traffic signs or warnings.
Those words written on this shirt are crazy
Clothing is a form of expression certainly, in the same way the symbols that they carry is an art if you know how to wear it correctly. Even those phrases hahaha Greetings friend as always reading you.
