The Balkan visitor number is rising in Georgia

Based on Non-profit organization “Tourism Geoinformation Center” order and statistics of Georgian Tourism Administration, “Western Balkans in Georgia” published a research on Balkan visitors statistics in Georgia.

In Georgia, Balkan visitors number, according to 2017’s first 9 months had risen by 15.5%.

From the eastern Balkans, Bulgaria leads, with 9.094 visitors, which is more than to compare 2016’s 9 months. From Romania, grows by 21.8%.

From the western Balkans, the highest number of visitors in Georgia are from Serbia. According to 2017, 2.268 Serbs have visited Georgia, which is 42.6% more to compare with last year. Only, from Albania and Montenegro are decreased number of visitors in Georgia.

In sum, according to the 2017’s first 9 months, 26.336 had visited Georgia, which is 15.5 more to compare 2016. In 2016, 22.796 visitors visited Georgia. Also, in the last years, the Balkan visitor number is rising. In 2015, more than 28.000 visitors visited Georgia, 2016 – 31.385.

Georgia needs to promote its touristic potential in the Balkan countries, which will sub-serve to increase the number of visitors from the Balkan region. According to this, it is necessary, to organize common events and also, online marketing, social media activities, etc. We think that, Georgian touristic companies should conduct relations with a heritage touristic countries like, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, etc, which will help to organize mutual touristic trips and to develop touristic and economic ties in the Caucasus and in the Balkans.
