They won Second Place! They're going to state!
Previously I posted a story about two young boys, Joe And Enrique, that were entering a science olympiad competition in geology. I was asked by their teacher, Kathleen, to mentor and guide them through it.

From left to right we have: Joe Kathleen(teacher), and Enrique. It was quite fun watching them learn and explore through the different rocks we have. 
The boys in there competition shirts and displaying their awards. The young lady to their left is Kelly. I mentioned in the previous post that she was their encourager. She plans to compete next year in the fossil category. They are each holding the geodes they had earned for placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the competition. the following pics are them with their geodes opened.

The state competition is in a few weeks. Everybody is excited. the young folks are having a great time exploring all the specimens they are learning about. please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Remember they are our future.

It's so great when kids start learning about rocks & geology. Good on you for mentoring them.
My kids liked it for about 6months to a year then moved on. Maybe one day they will want to go out collecting with me again.
