Some of my personal collection

I mentioned a while ago that I would show some of my personal collection. I was just now sorting through our photo archives and came across these So now is a better time than ever to post some.

Fossil are my first love, so I might as well start there.

Of course there are my favorites
This is a Phacops trilobite.

I was fascinated with them when I was about eight years old. At that time they were considered rare and I couldn't afford one. this one is about four inches long.

This is a kiechiosaur.

Not all dinosaurs were big and trying to eat you. I named this one Charlie.
I'll share some more fossils later.

This is an Orthoceres deathbed plate.

They were a prehistoric squid that had long pointed shells. The longest one on this plate is 18"

Then there is my fossilized star fish.

It looks like it was running so I named him Sprinter.

I have a variety of Ammonites which are cousins to the Orthoceres.

This Eurypterid (Sea Scorpion) is from upstate New York, my home state.

The next few are some fun little fossils. Anyone care to guess what they are?



They are all Coprolites (petrified dino dung) They can be very colorful and believe it or not; people make high end jewelry out of it.
I have plenty more; approximately 700 pieces in my collection, so I'll have to break it up a bit to show the better specimens. Hope you enjoyed this little show.
