DISASTER CLEANUP STAGE I
It's been a daunting process trying to clean and organize the back room.
This is the section I first started working on, because it was an avalanche waiting to happen. It's been several weeks and it seems like I barely scratched the surface. We found some interesting items and collections though.
I started putting miscellaneous fluorites together in this box.
The greens and whites glow blue under the blacklight.
Here is a nice collection of tourmaline with a piece of prehnite and marcasite.
Another nice collection of colorful turquoise, fluorites, and calcites.
An even smaller collection of quartz; citrine, and calcites.
I found lots of bins of assorted minerals, and tumbled stones.
This bin has a lot of tiny stone beads, a broken knife, and a couple Dino track casts.
These are some bags of the tiny stones in that bin
turquoise, malachite, sulfur, blue calcite,etc...
Many many polished stones.
This is just two such bins.
As I mentioned I did find individuals items that are very cool.
These are chiastolite (jesus stones)
(self explanatory)
A celestite geode.
Very very cool.
A blue phantom halite.
This is from a potash mine in Carlsbad NM. You can't get them any more. When my employee found it, she had to buy it. Even though it is very pricey.
Well this post has been very long winded, so I will close with a progress photo of that section.
It may not seem like much improvement, but we dropped the pile about two feet and one layer back. Still looking for places to put the stuff we pulled out.
That's a lot of work!
Yes it is. Once I get it organized I'll have to keep on it to prevent it happening again. Although it is kind of fun exploring without having to step out the door.
