Crystal collection #2
I really enjoyed showing a few of my crystals and I trust a few of you like them. So here is round two.
First I want to show a group of the more popular crystals that people come to Roswell NM to find.
These are double terminated Pecos Valley Diamonds. Not really diamonds but quartz. They are usually found in clusters, but the jewelry makers want these more. They are the designated rock of Roswell and Chavez County.
A dog tooth calcite cluster.
Not a colorful piece, but interesting formations none the less.
This delicate crystal cluster is Natrolite
The needles are extremely fragile,so I don't let anyone touch them.
Here we have a very pretty specimen of Cobaltic Calcite.
This is a favorite among ladies, young and old. The crystals are much larger than usually found.
These tiny yellow calcite crystals fascinated me
It looks even better in person. I couldn't get the colors to come as well in the photo.
This gorgeous green needle Hemimorphite comes from Russia.
I saw it in a rock & gem show in Hamburg NY. Another "gotta have it"
Rhodochrosite is always an eye catcher in any collection
It's actually pinker in real life. My picture editor seem to be finicky today.
Phantom quartz is really cool.
The phantom is hard to see in the pic, and the quartz part is much clearer. The rainbow is there always.
Canvasite is rare and very pricey
I was able to get this at a fantastic price, so I had to buy it.
Another of my favorites is this natural chalcanthite
It is extremely delicate, as well as sensitive to sunlight and will dry out if not protected. Hence the protective dome. finding a piece with this much crystal in it is also difficult. It's a keeper. :-D
Yes, the Hemimorphite is a gotta have, so is the chalcanthite. Beautiful!
