So much of a problem for such a rock. I really learnt a lot sbout dolomite. But wat i cant really understand is why scientist would want to solve this problem, as you said

Can we expect any profit from knowing how the dolomites can be made?

Well, it could potentially aid the oil industry in their work, but... The fundamental reason most scientists become scientists is a love of learning. Science is incredibly difficult work, takes years and years of schooling, and pays terribly. You don't become a scientists for money, flat out. Profit's not the reason we do what we do. Just asking that question shows how little you understand scientists- I'd highly recommend checking out some biographies of various scientists, it might be enlightening to you.
