RE: Rock Types and the Rock Cycle

in #geology7 years ago

Thanks for the lesson!

As I told you before, I have a friend who is a PhD Geology student and so I get lessons about rocks all the time, whether I like it or not. Once we were going into Lowe's hardware and they had some kitchen counters on display, and he stopped to tell us about the structures in the granite. I remember it had lots of garnets in it. haha

Anyhow, it's always good to get a refresher in subjects that we encounter each and every day. Rocks are such a big part of our lives, whether we realize it or not, so of course I always appreciate lessons in geology. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, glad you liked it! Your friend sounds pretty cool to me.

As for kitchen counters- I do the same thing all the time! It's shocking how often things are mislabeled, though- literally everything seems to get labeled granite, even calcite. :(

Well I'm definitely going to take him with me to the store if I'm ever in need of new countertops. haha. Thanks for your response!
