The Dalmatian type of coastline
According to the nature of formation and special characteristics, coastlines fit into one of two main types - Pacific and Atlantic type. One of Pacific type is the Dalmatian type of coastline.
This type is of coast has parallel inlets and long narrow hilly islands situated at some distance in the sea and parallel to the coastline.

Coast is built up mostly of Mesozoic limestone and beaches and extended cliffs are missing. Coastline exactly follows a contour along an older relief, formed in long periods of terrestial denudation. It gives impression of submerge and downwarping, because higher terraces and deposits are missing. This will not change in the future. If the sea level rises - the ingeression will drown the next depression and the outermost islands will disappear. If the sea level falls - new island chains will emerge and canals will be transformed into inland depressions.
This type of coastline is very rare and only other notable example are Sumatra and The Mentawai Islands, parallel in the Indian ocean.
