INTRODUCTION:
As he said earlier that green means plants and from my own view, plants is something that was created from the beginning by God and it is found all over the globe.so today I will be glad to discuss about this familiar plant known as the teak tree which is a tree that is found in my own geographical part of Nigeria.
TEAK TREE
Teak tree is a hardwood species of tree that belongs to the family Lamiaceae. It is a large tree that grow in mixed hardwood forest and mostly found in tropical area. Tectona grandis as the botanical name has small, fragrant white flowering seeds arranged in dense clusters at the end of the branches. These flowers contain both types of reproductive organs.
important of teak to my geographical area:
Teak has numerous important to my geographical area as listed below.
- due to it size,rapid growth and species of leaves it is use mainly for shelter and shade in my area.
- it produces homogeneous economic crops.
- it help reduce soil erosion,watershed and amelioration of microclimate.
- it service as source of income i.e timbers, poles etc.
Environmental and economic factor of teak:
Teak tree has numerous environmental and economic factor which are listed below:
With increasing demand for high quality teak wood plantation area is only expected to increase of the heart wood quality,and is a key factor in determining the value of small holders teak logs .
The marketing of teak wood is increasing every passing day due to the high demand of it and it great quality.
The is increase in the planting if this teak tree in my are due to its beauty, strength, durability and weather resistant quality.
Lifespan of teak tree:
The lifespan of a teak tree is 100 to 200 years, the matured tree of a teak are usually 46 meter and 150 feet tall, teak has never lived less than 100 to 200 year as it's lifespan.
