Sunday Hike Plus GeoCaching

Per our normal weekend routine we headed out for a short 4 mile hike with the dogs. During the hike my wife and I stared discussing Geocaching which is an activity I’ve been interested in since I was a kid. If you don’t know what that here the wiki for it.

When I first looked into as a child it was complicated and expensive. You needed a gps and there was no organized list of caches. So with a quick google I found a an app called geocaching one the App Store. After signing up we were geocaching in under 5 mins.

I was surprised to see that there was a cache only a few hundred yards away. So we stepped off the trail and wandered in to the thicker woods. After a couple mins of search we were both so excited when we found the container hiding in a tree!

We ended up taking a little stone and writing down our info in the log. This container had been out there since 2008 and had approx 30 signatures. After putting the container backs wife and I both looked at each other and new we were both hooked.

On our ride home we started mapping out new locations. We are thinking about creating custom stickers to leave. We might even leave steem related items. I was thinking about leaving a note with an IOU of steem/sbd if they create an account.

I’m now wondering how many steemains are into geocaching? I would love to start a steem community around it.
