POETRY TITLE - QUESTIONS
Writer Writer, why do we do this everytime?
I keep trying to predict you and you keep trying to surprise me.
I try to play God, to guess how your story goes but you always make me look like the devil instead.
You always tag me in this game of ours
Bus driver bus driver, why do we do this everytime?
I keep asking you for the price even though I already know it and
You keep lying to me even though you know I know you are lying
When will we stop this game we play everytime I get on the bus?
Preacher preacher, why do we do this everytime?
You keep trying to deceive me, and I keep laughing at your pitiful attempts
You keep saying fornication is a sin as ytime I get on the bus?
Preacher preacher, why do we do this everytime?
You keep trying to deceive me, and I keep laughing at your pitiful attempts
You keep saying fornication is a sin as though it were the only sin;
And yet I saw your car outside my favorite brothel.
I wonder which one of us would go to hell first.
Father father, why do we do this every time?
You keep trying to intimidate me even when you know I won’t bulge and I keep trying not to smack you upside the head with a spoon.
You say I should never hit a lady and yet mother keeps wearing shades the mornings after I open the door for you at midnight.
Mother mother, why do we do this every time?
You keep saying sex before marriage is a sin and I keep smirking at you because I was born before you were even baptized, maybe that is the reason I cannot stop having sex with the boys from church.
You say iAm supposed to just get married and give birth, to please my black husband every night and be his slave, and I keep laughing when you rant about the white men and their slavery.
You forget that marriage is not an achievement, but another form of slavery.
I hope someday I will be free of my questions.
