BRIEF INTRODUCTION ON E-LEARNING SYSTEM

Education is usually understood as the method whereby there are students in a classroom receiving lessons from a teacher but with the help of information technology through the internet, learning can now be achieved without necessarily having a teacher right in front of a student (Lawani, 2015).

E-learning is one of the tools that emerged from information technology and has been integrated in many universities education programs, shifting from the traditional way of education to electronic environment in which a student can have access and make use of information anywhere and at any convenient time.

The term "e-learning" has only been in existence since 1999 when the word was first utilized at a CBT systems seminar. Other words also began to spring up in search of an accurate description such as "online learning" and "virtual learning". However, the origin behind e-learning have been well documented throughout history, and there are even evidence which suggests that early forms of e-learning existed as far back as the 19th century. E-learning is a computer based educational tool or system that enables one to learn anywhere and at any time. Today, e-learning is mostly delivered through the internet, although in the past it was delivered using a blend of computer based methods like CD-ROM  (Gogos, 2013).

E-learning offers the ability to share material in all kinds of formats such as PDFs. Conducting webinars (live online classes) and communicating with lecturers via chat and message forums is also an option available to users. E-learning provides the learners with the ability to fit learning around their lifestyles, effectively allowing even the busiest person to further a career and gain new qualifications. E-learning system has helped in improving interactions between students and their instructors for their classes.
