What's in your family tree?

in #genealogy5 years ago

I have been researching my family tree for more than 25 years, with a particular focus on Nova Scotia as far back as the first Acadian settlers. I also do research for others.

Genealogy is my lifelong passion...with a generous helping of obsession from time to time. My personal family tree has grown to massive proportions since I started with a handful of names and dates. In addition to researching all ancestral lines, I also find and record information on even the most distant cousins. Little wonder that I have over 120,000 names in my family database.

My ancestral background is a mix of English, French, Irish, Germanic, Scottish, Welsh, Norse, Swedish, and Native North American. For the most part, my ancestors were ordinary people (a whole lot of farmers and fishers) who sometimes did extraordinary things. A few came over on the Mayflower. A few were descended from royalty. Many were Loyalists during the American Revolution. One or two were Patriots. All have a story to tell.

If you have any general questions about genealogy in general or Nova Scotia genealogy in particular, I will do my best to provide an answer.
